ACHILLES TENDONITIS

What is Achilles Tendonitis?

The Achilles Tendon attaches the major muscle in the leg to the heel bone. This tendon allows the ankle to move up and down like a hinge.

Injuries to the Achilles Tendon are commonly seen in all types of athletic activities, Commonly, if the foot is planted and there is an excessive downward force on the Achilles Tendon, the tendon may rupture. Ruptures to the Achilles Tendon are very painful and patients experience difficulty moving the foot upward.
