Nail fungus is a common condition that causes discoloration, flaking or brittleness of the toenails. Fungus can spread to multiple nails, and in some cases the skin surrounding the nails causing dermatitis and irritation. The diagnosis of nail fungus is confirmed through both a physical exam and lab cultures (a service we conveniently offer in our office).
